I have had horses all my life, due to my mothers passion. At 3 years old I had a Section A chestnut mare called Nutmeg, Nutmeg was a very naughty pony and not the best first pony for me. Luckily a family friend offered me her daughters pony who had been outgrown but to make sure I was keen and going to look after him she made me wait 1 very long year! Eventually at 5 years old, Robin arrived a 13.2hh dun gelding who was around 19 years old and knew his job. Robin taught me everything and we competed in local shows in Showjumping, Dressage, Cross country and Gymkhana’s and had a wail of a time. By the time Robin was ready to retire he had created a very keen 10 year who loved going fast and jumping, with this in mind my mum bought me Claude, a grey gelding who was full of character and boy could he jump!!! We competed at both local and county level showjumping, also competing on Pony Club teams and qualified for the Midland Championships many times. I also, gained lots of experience working on different yards and very lucky to have regular lessons with many top riders, thanks to my parents commitment to my passion. When i was 16 years old Claude fell ill and very sadly died of a heart condition. After having such an amazing bond with him I found it very difficult to find another pony / horse I loved so much. With this in mind I made a huge U turn, and instead of going to Walford and North Shropshire college to study Equine, I went instead to New College to study Law. After 2 years break out the saddle and moving to Wales I was very aware of my mistake and came back to my routes and the industry i love! After jointly running Deicin Livery and Stud since the start of 2009 I have undertaken many different qualifications.
2&3 Diploma in Horse care, Management & Riding, from Coventry University

Barrie has been breeding Cobs in his genes, as his father started breeding the Deicin stud lines from a Section A mare called Tudor Judy. Deicin Stud has been run from Penrhiwdrych Farm from the early 70’s by Barrie and before that from just down the road in Llanarth. With a total obsession for breeding Welsh Cobs. Barrie has had great success in the show ring over the years, but has now hung up his running shoes and loves nothing more than being on the sidelines watching the classes, weather it’s in hand or ridden but one thing it must be is a Welsh Cob!!! Being a panel judge for WPCS and Palomino society judge, he is a very useful man to have on the yard! With a huge amount of experience and knowledge. Barrie is now taking a more relaxed role on the yard concentrating on the farming side.
Lilly Owen is our daughter who’s passion and commitment with the horses is overwhelming and incredible. An active member of Tiviside Pony Club. Lilly and her ponies Gorfelyn Jersey Lily and Deicin April’s Destiny are having lots of fun getting ready to affiliate BE 2020 when she turns 12! Which both excites and frightens us parents!
James Owen our son enjoys cycling and is yet to be convinced about the ponies!
